Terms & Conditions

A legal disclaimer

Welcome to Kaoni Play Therapy. By engaging our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure a respectful, safe, and professional environment for all clients and therapists. Please read them carefully.

1. Therapeutic Services

Kaoni Play Therapy provides therapeutic support through play-based approaches for children and young people. All sessions are conducted by qualified professionals with appropriate registrations, training, and insurance. Therapy is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and may evolve as therapy progresses.

2. Appointments and Cancellations
  • Sessions are by appointment only and typically last between 45–60 minutes.

  • We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or failure to attend a session without notice, may incur the full session fee.

  • Persistent missed or cancelled appointments may result in the review or discontinuation of services.

3. Fees and Payment
  • Fees will be discussed during the initial consultation and must be paid either in advance or on the day of the session.

  • Payment can be made via bank transfer, EFTPOS, or other agreed methods.

  • Any additional costs (e.g. reports, assessments, or third-party correspondence) will be quoted in advance.

4. Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our therapeutic relationship. All personal information and session content are treated with the utmost privacy. However, confidentiality may be lawfully breached in the following circumstances:

  • If there is a risk of harm to the child or others

  • If required by law or court order

  • If disclosure is necessary to prevent a serious crime

  • If consent is given by the parent/guardian to share information with another professional

We will always seek to discuss any necessary disclosure with you wherever possible.

5. Parental Involvement

As therapy is designed to support children, we encourage active involvement and communication with parents and carers. Feedback sessions or updates may be offered periodically. However, details shared in the therapy session by the child are kept confidential unless sharing is deemed in the child’s best interest or is required for safeguarding reasons.

6. Duty of Care and Safeguarding

Kaoni Play Therapy adheres to strict child protection and safeguarding policies. If we have any concerns regarding a child's safety or wellbeing, we are obligated to follow mandatory reporting guidelines as outlined by relevant legislation.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

All client records are stored securely in compliance with Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and relevant data protection laws. You have the right to access your personal information upon request, subject to certain legal limitations.

8. Termination of Services

You or the therapist may choose to end therapy at any time. Where possible, we aim to provide a planned and supportive ending to ensure the best outcome for the child. Any outstanding fees must be settled before services are concluded.

9. Complaints and Feedback

We welcome feedback and aim to resolve any concerns quickly and respectfully. If you wish to raise a complaint, please contact us directly. We take all concerns seriously and will respond in line with our complaints policy.

10. Amendments to Terms

These terms and conditions may be updated from time to time. The most current version will always be available on our website or provided upon request.
