About

about kaoni play therapy

At Kaoni Play Therapy, we believe in the power of play as a natural and meaningful way for children to express themselves, process their experiences, and begin their healing journey. Our practice provides a safe, nurturing space where children can explore their thoughts and feelings through play, supported by a qualified therapist who understands the language of children.

Founded with compassion and care at its core, Kaoni Play Therapy exists to support children and families navigating emotional, behavioural, or developmental challenges. Whether a child is experiencing anxiety, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, or difficulties at school or home, we create an environment where they feel seen, heard, and respected – just as they are. Through evidence-based play therapy approaches, we help children make sense of their inner world and build the skills they need to thrive.

Play is not just a pastime – it is how children process life. At Kaoni, we honour this by offering therapeutic play sessions tailored to the unique needs of each child. In the playroom, toys become words and games become stories. Children use play to express things they may not yet have the words for – and we gently help them make meaning of those expressions in a way that supports emotional regulation, resilience, and growth.

Our approach is child-centred, trauma-informed, and grounded in empathy. We work at the child’s pace, recognising that each young person is on their own journey. We also know that children are part of a wider system, which is why we value collaboration with parents, carers, and other professionals involved in a child’s life. We believe in working together to support not just the child, but the whole family system.

Kaoni Play Therapy is a place of connection, curiosity, and care. Our name, "Kaoni", reflects the spirit of gentle guidance and deep respect for the child’s inner world. We are committed to creating a culturally safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all children and families, regardless of background or identity. Every child deserves to feel safe, accepted, and empowered.

Our founder and lead play therapist brings professional expertise and a heartfelt commitment to the wellbeing of children. With a background in mental health and child development, and specialist training in play therapy, she brings both skill and sensitivity to every session. Her approach is guided by current research, ethical practice, and above all, kindness.

At Kaoni, we don’t rush the process – we honour it. We create space for healing, growth, and self-discovery through the natural language of play. If you’re seeking support for a child in your care, we are here to help – with warmth, professionalism, and a deep respect for every child’s unique story.
