About
The Full Story
Seeing the world differently — one frame at a time.
I’m Pete Wilson, a black and white photographer with a passion for telling honest, human stories through light, shadow, and stillness.
In a world saturated with colour and filters, I find beauty in the simplicity of monochrome. For me, black and white photography isn’t just a stylistic choice — it’s a way of seeing. It strips away distraction, draws focus to what matters, and reveals emotion in its purest form. Without colour, there’s nowhere to hide — and that’s where the real magic happens.
Over the years, I’ve developed a deep respect for the power of minimalism in visual storytelling. My work is guided by a belief in stillness, patience, and attention — waiting for the right moment, the right light, the quiet truth that lives in between frames. Whether I’m shooting portraits, street scenes, or abstract compositions, I’m always looking for what’s real, not what’s posed.
Photography found me when I was a teenager — a cheap film camera, a roll of black and white stock, and hours in the darkroom taught me more about presence and process than I ever expected. What started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong pursuit. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, artists, brands, and organisations who share a love of honest, intentional imagery.
I work mostly one-to-one with clients who are looking for something a little different — portraits that capture soul, brand images that feel grounded and human, or documentary-style series that honour the details often overlooked. My clients appreciate the slower pace, the thoughtful framing, and the authenticity that monochrome offers.
While my style is rooted in minimalism and quiet contrast, my approach is collaborative. I want you to feel comfortable, seen, and involved in the creative process. Whether we’re working on a personal project or a commercial brief, I’ll always aim to create a space where trust and creativity can lead the way.
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll probably find me wandering side streets with my Leica, flipping through old photobooks, or listening to ambient records with a coffee in hand. I find constant inspiration in the works of classic photographers like Sebastião Salgado, Fan Ho, and Vivian Maier — artists who found the extraordinary in the everyday.
If you’re drawn to images that feel timeless, quiet, and true — I’d love to hear from you. You can get in touch via the contact page to discuss your ideas, check availability, or simply have a chat about working together.
Let’s make something that lasts — something with depth, texture, and soul.
